Wind power in Japan survives after nuclear disaster

As it says in the Japan Wind Energy Association,  there was not wind turbine damaged during the earthquake,  tsunami and nuclear accident in Japan.

Tsunamis  and earthquakes are quite common in the history of Japan so they have added 22 MW in 2010 and there are 2,304 MW installed throughout the country.

The company  EcoPower operates more than 109 wind farms across Japan mostly in coastal areas. They had to stop their operations during the earthquake, but after that, all wind turbines were safe.

Japan Wind Development Company, the third generator of wind power in the country confirmed that the eolic parks were not damaged during the earthquake.

This means that the anti-earthquake construction design of wind farms in Japan is very reliable. Most turbines installed in Japan are in operation now. As the electricity is temporarily running short at the Eastern part of Japan, these turbines contribute to the national electricity supply.

It goes without saying that Japan will focus much more on renewable energy sources, especially wind energy after the disaster at the nuclear power plant in Fukusima that hit the country.

Different studies confirmed that Japan has a lot of wind and other renewable resources that can be used for the country benefit. Hopefully, Japan can start being a renewable energy nation and a example to follow for other countries in the near future.
