Save on gardening
How to save on your garden and save on the ecosystem at the same time? There are some things you can do to save on your gardening and to save the environment.
1. Watering at night: You can save water by watering at night in your garden, in that way it reduces greatly the consumption of water since we are watering when there is not sun. The pots will retain the water better than if you water with heat. Also, other ways to save is to water with drip system or with a watering can, never with a hose since you waste a lot of water unnecessarily.
2. Make your own compost: The remains of the plants, along with all the kitchen vegetable waste are perfect for recycling and composting, so they are the best food for soil. They produce less smelly garbage, reducing the need for fertilizers or irrigation water and help us to care for our natural resources.
In organic gardens and orchards, straw and vegetable waste can be use for mulching: a “mattress” that covers new cultivated soil and that serves to avoid erosion and protect the soil from sun, rain, bad weather and wind. With this method, you will protect your plants in the times of economic crisis. The natural thing is always the most advantageous than the chemical fertilizer, using green manure to fertilise the soil provides nutrients to the plants themselves and protect them from erosion. Also, the plants absorb better the water in this way and prevent them from absorbing too much minerals and soil.
3. Cheap garden furniture: It is easy to spend a fortune on garden furniture, but you don’t have to. Make a search on the Internet and it will show you plenty of firms offering teak and other garden furniture at good deals. You can also go for a cast aluminum set. They are cheaper to buy , require no maintenance, and will look as good as few years later as the day they were delivered.
