Nature Inspired Furniture Design

No matter how hard we try to create industrial and sleek design in our cities and homes, it is to nature that we often turn to get inspiration or even just a solace of relaxation.

This is particularly true for people living in big cities, where living in harmony with nature and bringing nature indoor has become a popular trend and source of inspiration for many innovative designers.

PiaDesign is one of those people who  believe a curious and observing mind is the main medium in a designer’s toolbox. She designs objects to contain stories and are in harmony with their surroundings.

What we found particularly interesting are her concepts for indoor farming, which is here defined as a conceptual response to the increasing urbanisation and the resulting reliance on foreign food sources. Her concepts are an inspiration for all of use trying to grow some vegetables indoors and a form of exploration of the practical and emotional consequences of growing nutrition at home, and through your furniture even!

Another amazing concept from PiaDesign is her garden rug, made of Alpaca and Merino wool with stitched on moss. If you are curios about how moss can be applied to a wool rug, you can read the moss story.

And if you find moss particularly fascinating you can also check her strange vase, inspired by the Urban environment where luminous green moss grows on some of the most inhabitable areas of the city.
