Kundalini Yoga: this month in Dublin and London!
Kundalini Yoga comes this month to London, Milton Keynes, Liverpool and Dublin and it is presented by one of the most importan Kundalini instructors of the world: Maya Fiennes. Visit her website mayaspace.com to see the dates during in these workshops she plans to do in Europe by the middle of May. No knowledge of yoga is needed to participate in the class.
In her website mayaspace.com , you will find a lot information and some videos on the method but now you will be wondering, what is kundalini yoga?
Kundalini is one of the most mystical forms of yoga. It claimed to produce astonishing transformation, spiritual growth and enlightenment. The Sanskrit word translates as ‘coiled’, and the image of a coiled serpent represents the untapped energy that apparently lies dormant at the base of our spines.
The postures of Kundalini yoga are said to free that energy, and so balance the seven chakras (energy points) in the body, causing a powerful physical and emotional release. Postures are held for two to five minutes each, combined with meditation sets, usually of 11 to 31 minutes.
It is a great stress buster according to Fiennes and she says is a body, mind and spirit combination. In her interview with the Irish times she said that: “It’s a combination of breathing, mantra and position. Every class is different. There are thousands of different sets and I work with a lot of music as well, which is part of the experience.”
Fiennes lives now in Los Angeles where she practises and teaches Kundalini yoga. FIennes discovered Kundalini when, as classical trained concert pianist with two children, a Budhist friend recommended to her. Fiennes also has made some DVDs and particulary one of them called “Kundalini Yoga to detox and de-stress“ is a great introduction to techniques on this type of yoga. So why not try it? If you live in either Dublin or England this month is your opportunity to learn more about it. Also find a Kundalini yoga teacher in the Kundalini Yoga website.
