Ideas for a sustainable kitchen

To enjoy a beautiful and stylish kitchen does not have to be against the environment.  Here we will give you some tips to create a green kitchen according to your tastes.

Furniture and, above all, wooden cupboards are elements that all kitchen have and we have to pay attention to where they are coming from.  We should make sure that the wood is recycled or also, we can choose bamboo furniture, a raw material more ecologic and sustainable than the wood due to its rapid growth.

Another possibility is to place small curtains instead of wooden doors, or simply leave the shelves without anything. It all depends on your taste but the aim is the same: choose material that is sustainable and energy efficient that do not deplete the environment of natural resources.

The painting that we use in walls should be eco-friendly or, as they are called  Low VOC or Zero VOC paints.  A great place to find this eco-friendly paint is Portola Paints.

The hobs or stove tops in the kitchen are another element to consider. The greenest option is to choose recycled materials or sustainable materials. For example, a good option here good be recycled glass or sustainable wood.

The light bulbs should be compact fluorescent since they produce 80% less energy

Last but not least, kitchen appliances such as wasching machinge, dishwasher, refrigerator or extractor fan should be as efficiently as possible. The labels in each model indicate its energy efficiency.
