Grow a balcony garden
You may think that you can’t do more than use your small city balcony to store your bike. You could never be more wrong then this! There are lots of possibility that even small and narrow balcony can offer. So keep reading and learn something new

The first step in growing a balcony garden is planning your space.

For balconies that are long and narrow, group up different plants to smooth corners.
If you have enough space repeat some plants or group of them.
Mix tree, shrubs and colorful flowers to create a sense of diversity.
Create focal points: use bright colors, interesting shapes and textures.
Consider how it looks like from inside your home when designing the space outside.
Choose plants that change during all the four seasons, for example: ones that flower in spring, are green in summer, change leaf color in fall and display something in the winter too.
Consider the conditions of your patio when choosing plants: wind, weight of containers, water access and drainage.
In cold weather climates, line wooden containers with 3/4-inch builder’s foam to protect plant roots.

, you can start thinking about what you really want to plant, if you prefer to grow edible plants, or not, or well both!
If you have decided to go for edible plants here are some great tips you might find useful:
Always start your seeds in “seed starting” soil for better results.
Keep your seedlings well watered before you transplant them. You can place their seed starting pots in a tray filled with water.
When pests attack your plants use a natural methods to control them.
Maintaining a regular watering and fertilizing schedule is the most important thing you can do to have an abundant harvest.
Learn how to preserve your harvest through drying, canning, or freezing.
Also if you want to try out vegetable gardening, you can star with some easy to grow seeds that you can also put all together in a 24″ plant pot.

- Sunflowers
- Basil, but be careful with slugs and snails, they love it
- Sage
- Garlic Chives
- Cucumber
- Tomato
- Rosemary
- Mint
