Eco lodge in India

The Sarai at Toria is a new eco-lodge in India, 400 miles east of Delhi and near the tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh. The owners have a passion of wildlife conservation, Joanna Van Gruisen, a wildlife photographer and Ragundandan Singh Chundawat, biologist specilised in snow leopards and tigers. This eco-lodge is located in an unspoilt countryside beside a small forest and the river Ken. So if you go there you will be surrounded by nature.

Some of the activities that you can do in this ecolodge are fishing, walking in the forest, waterfalls and the crop fields, birding or going to the Panna Tiger Reserve.

Some eco-lodge in India claimed that they are ecologically responsible but this one is truly one of them. The owners are very careful about conservation and wildlife protection in the area. For example, the water in this place comes from the well, bio gas is used for cooking and solar panels are planned for next season that starts in October. Also, they use local ingredients for the food, where you can choose more continental and less spicy dishes with traditional Indian dishes.

You can enjoy this with a tour to spot the wild cats. Inside a jeep you can enjoy a wide variety of animals but tigers will be what can get your attention since there is the Panna Tiger Reserve. In the reserve they are also ecological responsible and one of the initiatives there is to develop and plan an eco-development in the area. There you will have the opportunity to see tigers, hyenas, wolves or jungle cats but also crocodiles from the river Ken.

If you are interested the Guardian has published an article about it titled: Eye on the tigers in India.
