Eco Lodge Concept Costa Rica
How many times a week, do you dream of escaping to a tropical island and recharge away from the busy city life and the buzz of modern life? Ever thought about Costa Rica?
Costa Rica is a country in Central America, bordered by Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the south, the Pacific Ocean to the west and south and the Caribbean Sea to the east. In Spanish, Costa Rica, means “Rich Coast”, and besides being famous for having abolished its army permanently in 1949, the country is also ranked third in the world in terms of the Environmental Performance Index.
In 2007, the Costa Rican government has also announced their plan for becoming the first carbon-neutral country by 2021, making it one of the greenest country in the world.
In this contest we have found this ecoresort in the making: PuraVidaEcolodge!
PuraVida is a eco-luxury retreat located amongst virgin rain forests and the volcanic sands of the Pacific Ocean, a destination for guests to enjoy tranquility, adventure and find balance away for the noise of modern, hectic lifestyle. A unique chance to relax and truly let go.
Everything at PuraVida is being designed and built with a strong sense of space utilization, where all living spaces at the lodge aim to blend in with the lush natural surroundings and a large emphasis is placed on a selection of sustainable materials. Design combinations include thatched ‘tiki-style palapa’ roofs utilizing local woods such as bamboo and palm, with a combination of ‘classic estucko’ whitewash walls, bear rock-wall finishes, with both walnut and polished concrete floors. Interior design features aim to include open skylights, impressive two-tier open living spaces, atriums & vertical gardens. Rain pools, water canals and water-mirrors will help produce a tranquil and natural environment.
The intention at PuraVidaEcolodge is to ‘eliminate negative environmental impact completely through skillful and sensitive design’. Sustainable design is both a philosophy and a direct reaction to todays economical and environmental crisis, and it is built around some simple principles of low-impact materials and energy efficiency, quality and durability.
PuraVidaEcolodge is still in the making, and every progress is documented in their blog, that here at OpenMint we invite you to check it out.
